Darwin's Wormery
This week we have been investigating worms and their habitats. After finding lots of worms at the school field last week, we decided to make ourselves a worm habitat in the classroom. To help us decide what we should put into the habitat we first tested a group of worms by providing them with soil, sand, leaves and paper and we then left them to make a choice overnight about which they would prefer. In the morning we found that most of the worms had buried themselves in the soil so we made sure there was lots of that in our wormery. We also added some wet leaves and vegetables and we hope that over the next couple of weeks we will see the worms busy at work, digging their tunnels and breaking down all the layers.
