Pond dipping!
On our weekly welly walk last week, Bear Class took part in some pond dipping activities to find out what lives in the school pond!
We each took turns with the long nets and swept along the pond surface as well as deeper down into the muddy depths! We carefully searched through the nets and used identifying charts to help us work out what we had found. We saw a variety of pond life, and we particularly liked looking at the snails, which seemed to come in all shapes and sizes and had some great patterns on them. We were very respectful of the animals, and we made sure that everything was safely returned to the pond.
